  • Where to swim?

Did you know that the Icelandic pool and hot tub culture has been submitted to Unescos’ Intangible Heritage list?

This ancient land is full of geothermal energy that probides us with plenty of hot water to fill our pools, hot tubs and natural springs.

For the perfect Icelandic experience, visit a local pool early in the morning or late in the evening and soak in the culture and refreshing, relaxing feel of the miniral water. We reccomend Sundhöll Reykjavíkur or Vesturbæjarlaug.

  • What to expect?

The Icelandic winter can be as amazing as it can be unforgiving. Please be prepared for any kind of weather and plan accordingly when traveling the country.

In February we can expect strong winds, blizzards and heavy snow or rain. The average temperatures are usually between -3 and +3°C (26-34° Fahrenheit) which is mild by Icelandic standards.

You can rent winter clothing or shop locally at thrift stores for affordable options.

If you want to purhcase your own Lopapeysa Wool Sweater, we reccommend second hand options or sourcing them from the Handknitting Assocation of Iceland - beware of cheap knock offs in touristy shops.

If you plan on renting a car and traveling outside the city please visit Safe Travel or Vegagerðin, for information on driving conditions.
